About Thrive
Welcome to Thrive
I am Róisín, owner of Thrive Physiotherapy in Sheffield. I’m on a mission to help you live your best life, without the fear of leaks or pain!
After the birth of my second child, I started to leak when I laughed, ran or sneezed. I did my pelvic floor exercises religiously to no avail. I slowly stopped doing the things I loved, telling myself what I’d heard many times before: “I’ve had kids, what did I expect? It’s normal to leak now.”
Then, one day, when running for the train, I started to leak. A few drops turned into a flood down my leg. I was mortified. Did anybody notice? Did I smell? I cried. But, at that moment, I decided that this would NEVER happen to me again.
I worked on myself. I rejected traditional pelvic health approaches which hadn’t helped me. I tried, tested and refined different therapies until, eventually, I became leak free! I understood that to help treat leaks or pain, I had to look at the whole, not just the pelvic floor.
A dream evolved; to open a physiotherapy clinic in Sheffield to help women who are in the same situation I was. I want to empower women to move fearlessly again; listen to them, understand them and their journey, and provide nurturing, healing and empowering care. No woman should have to live with pain or leaks!
At Thrive, you are treated as a whole person and not just a pelvic floor. I’ll help you understand your body and why pelvic floor squeezes alone may not improve your symptoms. Then, we’ll collaborate to create a tailored therapy programme to empower you and help you move fearlessly, without pain or leaks!
What to Expect
On Your First Visit
At Thrive, your first physiotherapy appointment is all about you. We take the time to really listen – to understand not just your symptoms, but how they’re affecting your day-to-day life, your movement, and your confidence in your body.
Whether you’re coming to see us for pelvic health concerns, postnatal care, prolapse, leaks, pain, or lymphatic support, you’ll be met with kindness, understanding, and expertise. Your session will begin with a thorough chat about you to learn about your body’s journey, how things are impacting you, and what you want the freedom to do again. From there, we’ll take a detailed look at how your body moves, and how your muscles (including your pelvic floor) are working together as a team.
We always take a whole-body approach. That means we don’t just focus on the problem area — we consider the whole you. From your posture and breathing to how you move and rest, we look at all the pieces that could be influencing your pelvic floor, bladder control, or pain.
We don’t carry out vaginal examinations during your first visit. Instead, we take a holistic look at how your pelvic floor is working in the context of your body. The pelvic floor is never an island, so we look at how it’s working with the rest of you rather than in isolation. If we ever feel that a vaginal examination would help guide your treatment more effectively, we’ll talk you through why. The decision will always be yours. There’s never any pressure or expectation.
You’ll leave your first visit with a clear understanding of what’s going on in your body, and a simple, meaningful plan to help you get back to doing what you love, whether that’s running leak-free, going out for the day knowing your bladder’s not in charge, or moving with ease and without that heavy feeling between your legs.
If you’re looking for a specialist women’s physiotherapist in Sheffield, we’d love to welcome you to Thrive. Get in touch to book your first appointment.
A Different Kind of Women’s Health Clinic
Tucked away just off Sharrow Vale Road, Thrive is a calm, safe retreat where your health is treated with supportive, tailored care. From the moment you walk through the door at Thrive, you’ll notice this isn’t your average physiotherapy clinic. Thrive has been created as a calm, welcoming space — somewhere that feels more like a sanctuary than a clinic, where women feel safe to open up and are genuinely cared for.
This is a clinic by women, for women — designed with thought, intention, and a deep understanding of the kind of care we all deserve. We know that talking about pelvic health, postnatal recovery, prolapse, leaks or lymphatic concerns can feel awkward, shameful or even overwhelming but at Thrive, we listen. We see you.
You’ll be met with warmth, compassion and expertise, and you’ll be listened to without judgement. No question is silly, and no topic is taboo.
Thrive exists to change the conversation around women’s health. Too often, women are told their symptoms are normal, inevitable or just something to put up with. We don’t believe that. We believe every woman deserves expert care that’s respectful, personalised and empowering, care that supports your whole self, not just your symptoms.
Appointments are unhurried, deeply individualised, and centred entirely around you. The space reflects that too, calm, private, and thoughtfully designed to help you feel comfortable from the moment you arrive. Many women say they leave not only feeling more in control of their symptoms, but with a spa-like glow from the care and attention they’ve received.
Whether you’re seeking pelvic floor physiotherapy, postnatal care, lymphatic drainage or support with pain or prolapse, you’re in the right place. Thrive is a specialist women’s physiotherapy clinic in Sharrow Vale, Sheffield, offering something different: expert care that feels as good as it works.
This is women’s health done differently. And we’d love to welcome you.
