As the year comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on an incredible 2024—one of growth, challenges, and immense gratitude. This has been a pivotal year for me and for Thrive Physiotherapy, as I made the leap to focus on my practice full-time, leaving the NHS behind to pour my energy into helping women across Sheffield and beyond.
Transitioning from my role in the NHS to running my own business was not an easy decision. It was daunting—stepping away from the security of a regular job into the unknown world of private practice. However, it was a move I felt deeply passionate about. The demands of the NHS often meant I couldn’t provide the level of personalised care I wanted to deliver. Women’s health, and particularly pelvic health, is an area that’s so often overlooked, and I knew I could make a difference if I created a space solely focused on empowering women to take charge of their health and well-being.
Taking the Leap
Starting Thrive as a full-time physio in Sheffield was both exhilarating and nerve-wracking. There were moments of doubt: Would anyone come? Would I make enough to sustain the practice? Could I really do this on my own? But every kind word, every appointment booked, and every story of transformation from my clients reassured me that this was exactly where I needed to be.
Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of working with hundreds of women—each with their own unique story, challenges, and triumphs. From helping new mums regain their confidence after birth to guiding women through menopause, I’ve seen firsthand how vital pelvic health is to living a joyful and active life. Together, we’ve celebrated dry sneezes, pain-free mornings, and ditching those “just in case” toilet stops. It’s these wins that remind me why I started this journey.
Launching New Classes
2024 also marked the launch of Thrive’s Pelvic Strength Class—a small-group exercise programme designed to help women build strength, mobility, and confidence while giving their pelvic floor the care it deserves. Watching this community blossom has been one of the highlights of my year. The support, camaraderie, and progress everyone has made have been inspiring. And now, as we look to 2025, I’m thrilled to introduce a more flexible drop-in format and an additional class time in a brand-new venue.
Thrive is growing, and I couldn’t be more excited to continue bringing innovative, empowering care to Sheffield.
Thank You for Supporting Thrive
None of this would have been possible without YOU—the wonderful Thrive community. Your trust, support, and encouragement have meant everything. Every review, every recommendation to a friend, every hug or high-five after a session—it all fuels my passion and motivates me to keep going. Running my own practice is challenging, but knowing that I’ve helped someone sneeze without worrying about a leak or take on an activity they’d been avoiding makes every challenge worth it.
Looking Ahead to 2025
As I take a much-needed break over the holidays (the clinic will be closed from 23rd December to 6th January), I’m already brimming with ideas for the new year. My mission remains the same: to make Sheffield (and the world!) a leak-free, confident place. Whether it’s through physiotherapy, education, or group classes, I’m determined to continue helping women reclaim their strength and independence.
To those who have been part of Thrive’s journey so far—thank you from the bottom of my heart. And if you’re new to Thrive or considering physiotherapy in Sheffield, I’d love to welcome you to our growing community. Let’s make 2025 a year full of fearless movement, dry pants, and boundless confidence.
Wishing you all a joyful Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year. Here’s to smashing those 2025 goals together!
